Salmon Man's Birthday

That's Salmon Man on the right (baby C-S on his back) with good friend, Dr. D.

My dear husband's birthday was last Sunday, and we celebrated by going with some friends of ours and their family along with two of their kids' friends to a nearby WI state park. A fantastic and adventuresome day was had by all. The snow on the main trail down to the falls was packed from being tramped on throughout the winter, but recent thaws and re-freezes had turned it into a truly perilous ice river, with thawing snow pouring down it as a shallow creek. At one point, if you weren't extremely careful, you could have let yourself follow the meltwater down a steep cliff right into the raging rapids at the bottom! Here are some pics.

Here is the whole group (minus me, the photographer).

If you missed me, here's a pic of my dear husband (33 years young!) and me with the far cliffs in the background.

Here are some assorted pics of different members of the group attempting the descent into the river valley.

Here are some views of the falls and some of those enjoying the falls.

We also did some geo-caching. Here are the treasure hunters moments after finding a cache, and also a pic of one of the caches.

And the part that was truly dangerous!

Here's what you would have fallen into, had you slipped!

Of course, Dad was tired after carrying a baby on his back all afternoon, as well as trying to keep his balance. So he and the little guy took a nap together. Aaw!

And, what's a birthday without cake and a party?

Happy birthday, love!
